This healthy sauteed apples recipe uses zero sugar, butter or cream. Topped with cinnamon and optional almonds, these sauteed apples are the perfect healthy holiday treat. Vegan and gluten-free.
How in the world is it already november!? This year has flown by. It was actually this time last year when Michael and I went out to buy my engagement ring. We couldn’t tell anyone so it was a VERY big secret to keep. It felt like we were engaged but couldn’t celebrate with anyone or shout the good news!
Michael also asked me to be his girlfriend in four years ago in november 🙂 it’s a very special month to us.
Naturally, with any good celebration — you need sweets! Which is why I made these healthy sauteed apples with cinnamon. They use only clean ingredients, are vegan and gluten free (just like these peanut butter cups!).
Most sautéed apple recipes require lots of sugar, butter and possibly cream; however my sautéed apple recipe requires none of the above (and taste amazing as well)!
You might be thinking — how is there no sugar or butter!?
Apples have a good amount of sugar content on their own (roughly 18 grams to be exact) … Thats a lotttta sugar — so I didn’t understand why I would need to add anymore to these healthy sauteed apples?
While cooking your apples, the sugars release on their own and begin to caramelize. Cinnamon is not only a tasty addition, but also helps lower blood sugar levels and keep blood sugar levels balanced — you can read more benefits here.
The perfect pairing with a sweet treat like these sautéed apples!
There are SO many ways to use these healthy sautéed cinnamon apples. I chose to top mine with a scoop of dulce de leche frozen yogurt and sliced almonds, but the possibilities are endless 😍
some MORE ideas:
- Top your oatmeal with them & drizzle some PB for a healthy breakfast (or dessert!)
- Stir them into your greek yogurt and sprinkle some Purely Elizabeth Granola on top.
- Make a PB and apple sandwich for lunch
- Make this goat cheese crostini recipe but substitute with apples
They are so versatile! Check out my instagram for more ideas on using them — I’m always whipping something up in my stories!
how do you plan on using these healthy sauteed apples!?
I hope you love them as much as we do!
