Before Cooking the Tofu
Since I am showing you multiple ways on how to make buffalo tofu, let’s get the prep work out of the way first.
Lay the tofu out on a clean dish towel and gently press to get all of the moisture out.
Slice your extra firm tofu into cubes, about 1 inch x1 inch pieces.
Place the diced tofu in a Ziploc bag or large mixing bowl. Then add the seasonings and cornstarch. You want to cover it completely, so if you are using a bag, shake well. If you are using a bowl you can use your hands or a spatula.
Ways to Make Buffalo Tofu
Oven Instructions
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Add the coated tofu in a single even layer, making sure that the pieces don’t touch.
Bake for 15 minutes then turn the tofu and continue baking for another 15 minutes.
If you want it crispier you can leave it in a little longer.
Instructions for Making Buffalo Tofu in the Air Fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees.
Spray the basket with non-stick spray or use paper parchment liners. If you are going to use parchment paper liners, do not place them in the basket until it has fully preheated and you are ready to add the tofu.
Add the tofu in an even layer, be sure they aren’t touching. Cook for 18 minutes. At the 10 minute mark, flip the tofu or shake the basket and finish cooking for the remaining time.
Once the tofu is finished cooking, add it to a medium-size bowl and toss in the buffalo sauce.
Tips for Making
The trick to crispy tofu is getting all of the moisture out.
If you are using an air fryer, do not overload the basket. Instead, cook in batches.
Buffalo tofu is best when it’s served immediately after cooking.
