Preheat your oven to 350F. Line a muffin pan with 12 non-stick liners or paper liners sprayed with cooking spray.
In a food processor, standing mixer, or large bowl, mash the banana well until smooth. You want it essentially pureed -- no lumps!
Add your maple syrup, coconut oil, eggs, and vanilla extract and blend until well combined.
Add your flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt to the mixture. Mix until well combined.
Stir in chocolate chips, saving some to add on top.
Divide the batter between the muffin cups evenly, and sprinkle with remaining chocolate chips.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until done.
