A couple months back I interviewed Krista Williams of the Almost 30 Podcast, so naturally I HAD to interview her co-host Lindsey Simcik! This duo has brought so much joy into my life through their honest, vulnerable, insightful + hilarious podcast, the Almost 30 Podcast.
Lindsey is unapologetically herself which is just ONE of the many reasons I was so drawn to her. She speaks her mind, isn’t afraid to go against the crowd and makes me laugh 24/7.
Not only is Lindsey completely gorgeous on the outside, she also has a beautiful soul with a refreshing perspective on life. I am so honored to have been able to interview this rockstar athlete, actress, podcast host and creative human.
Get ready to fall in love with Lindsey + I hope you enjoy this interview! x

1. Introduce yourself to the Hello Spoonful Community!
HEY EVERYONE! My name is Lindsey Simcik and I am an actress and host of the Almost 30 Podcast! I also teach SoulCycle part time. I’m from Philadelphia, PA, went to school in Boston, lived in Manhattan for five years and settled in LA four years ago. LA is pretty special — so many people here are doing so many things…and that inspires me. I love a good zig-zag life path. And if you’re wondering…I’m 30!

2. OK sooo basically you do it ALL.. How do you manage teaching SoulCycle, the Almost 30 podcast, acting AND having a social life!?
Oh girl, I don’t manage. Balance is not something I have mastered and not sure I ever will. I think there will always be one part of your life that is needing a little bit more attention and love, while other aspects flourish and grow.
The challenge is to be in tune with what you need and be able to make a shift to give love and attention to what needs it. Health, business, family, creative exploration…it’s always a dance!
3. You’re like.. really fit. Tell us about your health philosophy. Weekly workout schedule? Tell us EVERYTHING.
Oh thank you lol I’m lucky. I get to work out as part of my job. SoulCycle is a fantastic workout, but I don’t think you can just do SoulCycle or cardio and achieve the results you want.
Our bodies are super smart, so to beat adaptation syndrome, I mix up my workouts constantly! I love boxing, yoga, Barry’s Bootcamp, incline heavy hikes, chill walks, and I recently got the itch to start swimming again!
I’ve made a big change this last year in how I approach my workouts. I literally ask my body what it want’s to do today. Sounds weird, and maybe it is, but for so long I was forcing myself to get up early and do violent HIIT workouts and I realized that it was just RUDE to my body.

4. What’s your FAV part about teaching SoulCycle!?
The community. There is nothing better than guiding people through something challenging only to see them come out the other side.
5. How has fitness evolved to where it is now?
I love that a lot of fitness brands have really focused on community and inspiring mental and emotional transformation, rather than focus on the rock-hard body that lies on the other side of the sprint on the treadmill. Our outer appearance is a reflection of the inner experience.
6. Fav snack/meal/wellness tip!?
- Snack? I love me some Moon Juice veggie crisps with Bitchin’ Sauce! I also love Kalumi Beauty Food Bars!
- Meal? Take me to the Erewhon hot bar — usually broccolini, japanese sweet potatoes and wild salmon.
- Wellness tip? HYDRATE AND SLEEP. You’ll look and feel younger. That’s enough for me.

7. I’m OBSESSED with the Almost Thirty Podcast.. what do you think about the podcasting industry? What’s your advice for those who are trying to get started!?
The podcasting industry is so unique. You can’t really hide who you are on a podcast, which is the most liberating part. We get to be ourselves 100%. I love that anyone can have a podcast, no matter how niche it is.
My advice for getting started? DO THAT. START.
It certainly won’t be perfect, so don’t wait for that. You will find inspiration in the work. So start doing. It’s scary and intimidating because people will listen. It’s a pretty vulnerable thing to put out creative content, but you are pulled to do this for a reason. Let yourself be pulled. You’re going somewhere!!
8. What were some mistakes or difficulties you had in finding your voice and message on Almost 30 Podcast? What did you do wrong when you started out?
I think it’s normal, but it was hard for me to find my voice at first. I was too concerned with who could be listening instead of just speaking my truth and hoping it lands for some people. Over time Krista and I found our groove, our voices, our interview style, our banter….it continues to evolve, which is so cool to hear.

We did a lot of things “wrong” I guess, but honestly all of those things helped us to tighten up what Almost 30 Podcast is now…so thank God for those things! Sound quality issues, sharing too much on the pod, insulting family and friends (oops), taking on tasks that we were not good at instead of hiring others who are experts…You will learn as you work through it. Again, you can’t harp on what’s not working, that is wasted energy. Focus on what is working and let that expand.
9. Do the things or feelings that drove you to start Almost 30 Podcast still drive you now?
I think that our idea and our understanding of what Almost 30 is has expanded exponentially. “She” as we refer to Almost 30 Podcast, is so much greater than us. She’s got PLANS.
She wants to inspire and create community and elevate women and make being human super cool, and make being yourself your super power…That was a run-on sentence like I’ve never written before. But it felt good. 🙂
10. If you could interview anyone in the world (past + present) who would it be!?
OH LORD. That is a hard one. This is so random and literally just popped into my head. Jim Carrey. I’m fascinated by him then and now, by his full immersion in his work and his full disconnection now from celebritom (is that a word?). There are so many, great question.

11. Ok im in LA for a weekend… where should I go!?
I’m a West Side gal:
- Erewhon for breakfast/lunch/dinner hehe
- Point Dume in Malibu for a beach day/great views
- drinks at Hotel Erwin rooftop in Venice, surf lessons in Venice (look for the two washed up dudes in the orange van)
- Drum Circle at Ceremony Meditation
- sunset at the Manhattan Beach pier
- class at SoulCycle Santa Monica
- Scopa for dinner (go hungry)
- …Oh and check out my co-host Krista’s hundredblog.com for amazing rec’s as well!
12. Cocktail of choice?
Dirty Martini. 🙂 Vodka doesn’t give me a hangover and a martini forces me to sip like a lady.
