Spicy Gluten-Free Baked Chicken Tenders are made with 5 ingredients and ready in under 30 minutes! Make them in your air fryer or bake them in the oven. Either way, they’re super crispy, slightly spicy, and delicious!
I really don’t mean to be too forward here, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to change your life with these super crispy, subtly spicy gluten-free chicken tenders.
I’m truly shocked!
The most important factor when it comes to chicken tenders (besides taste, of course) is the crisp factor.
It needs to be level 100. Otherwise, count me out. Ya feel?
And these right here? They are level 1,000.
How do I make baked chicken tenders crispy?
There are a few tricks I used to get these gluten-free tenders insanely crispy.
One of the steps I added to make them crispy was toasting the rice crumbs before using them.
You want to pop your rice crumbs in the oven for about 10 minutes at 425F before using them for your coating. Set them aside and allow them to cool before using.
Another trick I used was double-dipping the tenders
Say whattttt? But my mama told me not to double-dip!
Double dipping is typically frowned upon, but in this case, it is totally acceptable! Repeat the coating process twice before baking your tenders.
What you’ll do: dredge a chicken tender in your egg mixture, letting excess egg drain off before dredging in rice crumb mixture. THEN, dredge tender once more in egg and rice crumb mixture. Finally, transfer the tenders to the prepared baking sheet.
My third trick for extra crispy tenders is to spray them with olive oil spray before popping them in the oven to bake.
The light oil coating gets the tops crispy, brown, and gives them that crunch you’re looking for!
My final tip for crispy tenders is to cool them on a cooling rack.
This prevents the breading from getting soggy on the side touching the pan while they cool.
Do I have to double dip them?
Not at all! I did half of the tenders with the extra breading and half with only one round of coating. It’s totally up to you. They get really crispy either way. 🙂

What should I dip my gluten-free chicken tenders in?
I love dipping these spicy chicken tenders in my creamy avocado sauce, a little greek yogurt mixed with buffalo sauce, or a fun dressing like pizza ranch! These tenders are also great dipped in ketchup which your kids (cough, me, cough) will love. 😉
How else can I serve chicken tenders besides dipping them?
One of my favorite ways to enjoy these 5 ingredient spicy baked chicken tenders is by chopping them up and adding them to my salads! I love how the breading acts like croutons and adds depth to my salads.
I also love to add these spicy tenders to a wrap with lettuce, avocado, buffalo sauce, and cream cheese. I’m really liking this specific dairy-free cream cheese lately.
You could totally coat them in a little sweet and sour sauce and add them to a stir fry as well!
You have two options when it comes to cooking your gluten-free chicken tenders: the air fryer, or the oven.
How to make gluten-free chicken tenders in the air fryer:
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Place the chicken tenders in the basket, adding in batches so as not to crowd or overlap.
- Cook for 13-15 minutes, flipping the chicken halfway through so they’re crispy on both sides. Repeat with the remaining tenders.
How to make crispy chicken tenders in the oven:
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Spray tops of dredged chicken tenders with olive oil spray. Place the baking sheet on the center rack of the oven and bake 15 minutes.
- Use tongs to flip chicken tenders and bake 8-10 minutes more, until the internal temperature of chicken reaches 165°F and the exterior is a light golden brown.
- Remove from oven and transfer chicken tenders to a wire rack to cool slightly before serving.
Personally, I like making them in the oven since it’s already preheated and ready to go from toasting your rice crumbs.

- Rice Crumbs
- Eggs/Egg whites
- Taco Seasoning

And salt… but that doesn’t count as an ingredient in my opinion. Salt is just a part of life!
A very necessary part if you ask me.
You will also need:
- A baking sheet or air fryer
- A cooling rack
- Two large bowls (one for your egg mixture and one for your breading mixture)
- A pretty serving dish and a small dish or two for your sauces!
