Mash Bananas the Easy Way

Before we dive into my newest banana bread recipe, here’s a little pro tip for you.

Instead of hand mashing, use your electric mixer to cut out the time of mashing the bananas.

It’s quick, easy, and comes to the right consistency in a pinch!

Almond Butter Banana Bread Ingredients

overripe bananas – the riper the banana is the sweeter they are

natural almond butter– the label should only read almonds and salt, nothing else!

Honey – adds just a little more sweetness! You could also swap this for maple syrup if you don’t have it.

Eggs – help to keep the bread moist and act as a binding agent for the other ingredients.

Vanilla – adds a little more flavor

almond flour – be sure not to pack the flour down with measuring. Instead, scoop the flour using a spoon into the measuring cup and level off with the back of a knife.

oat flour – you can blend your own oats if needed to make oat flour. To keep it gluten free, use a brand like Bob’s Red Mill.

baking soda – helps the bread to rise

Cinnamon – because who doesn’t love the spicy and comforting flavor of cinnamon

Salt – just to bring everything together

dairy free chocolate chips – you can use milk, semi-sweet, or dark chocolate chips

How to Make Banana Bread with Almond Butter

Prep your loaf pan by lining it with parchment paper or spraying it with non-stick cooking spray, then preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Combine the mashed ripe bananas, honey, almond butter, vanilla, and eggs in a large mixing bowl.

In another bowl, whisk together the flours, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda.

Pour the dry ingredients into the wet and stir just until all of the ingredients are combined, being careful not to overmix.

Fold in the dairy-free chocolate chips.

Add the bread batter to the loaf pan. Sprinkle some extra chocolate chips on top.

Bake until a toothpick comes out clean, which should be about 45-55 minutes. Sometimes I cover the bread with foil for the first 30  minutes it’s in the oven to ensure that the top doesn’t get too brown before the rest of the bread.

Once it’s done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool before serving.

Is This Banana Bread Paleo Friendly?

Yes! Even though we are using honey as a sweetener, this bread recipe is still considered paleo.

Be sure to grab organic and the most natural ingredients possible.

If you want more paleo recipes, I have a TON of those on here because most paleo-friendly dishes are made with whole, simple ingredients.

While usually, I don’t make diet-specific recipes, paleo and Whole30 are the exceptions.

Can I use peanut butter?

Yes! You can use any nut or seed butter in place of the almond butter if you’d like.

How Long Does Homemade Banana Bread Last?

You can keep almond butter banana bread on the counter in an airtight container for 2 days or in the refrigerator for 5 days.

Freezing the bread will make it last up to 4 months.

Make sure all of the air is out of the bag. Store in slices or individual servings so you don’t have to thaw a whole loaf if you don’t want to.
