5 Ingredient Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken is paleo, keto, gluten-free, dairy-free, and delicious! This easy recipe is perfect for meal prep, weeknight dinners, or a crowd! Best of all? It’s made in your slow cooker so it does all of the work for you.
If it isn’t already obvious, I’m OBSESSED with my slow cooker. Some of my most popular recipes use my crock-pot (oh hey, 5 Ingredient Honey Garlic Chicken, 5 Ingredient Tex Mex Chicken, and Healthy White Chicken Chili)
You simply can’t beat the fact that all of your ingredients get added to one pot, and it does all the work for you! Not to mention your slow cooker makes the most tender chicken recipes.
Some people might say their slow cooker is only used in the fall or winter months, but for me, it’s 100% used year-round! Coming home after a long day of work to the yummy smells in your kitchen brings so much joy (and relief!) into my crazy days.
And what better meal to come home to than this Healthy 5 Ingredient Buffalo Chicken recipe!?
I truly can’t think of anything better.
I love preparing buffalo chicken because it’s extremely versatile.
You can serve it in tacos, on top of a salad, on a bun, stuffed in a sweet potato, or simply with your favorite sides!
We decided to serve ours on top of cauliflower rice with peas. I added cottage cheese to my bowl (shocking haha) to take the heat dow a notch. I also just love the added protein and creamy texture.
I also love that you can control the spice level of this slow cooker buffalo chicken recipe. Michael wants his food super spicy, but I just like a little heat. We make the chicken at a medium spice level and then he adds more to his bowl.
Healthy 5 Ingredient Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Ingredients:

You can also add paprika or chili flakes to give it some extra heat. I sprinkled mine with salt, pepper and garlic powder at the end because I LOVE garlic.
How To Make Healthy 5 Ingredient Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken:
- Optional First Step: Browning your garlic + onions. Add olive oil to a skillet until the oil is nice and hot. Add garlic and onions to your skillet until browned. This is a simple trick I like to do that enhances the flavor of all of my meals.
- Add all of the ingredients to the slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or cook on low for 6 hours.
- Shred chicken, then add salt and pepper to taste. Optional: add garlic powder. You can also add paprika or chili flakes if you want it spicier!
