Cranberry Turkey Burgers

These Cranberry Turkey burgers are perfect winter grilling, healthy, and super festive for the holidays, especially when you get tired of all of the oven-baked turkey and ham!

If you have been following me on Instagram you know we recently got a new grill from Home Depot and we had to set it out in our yard because of the work we are doing on our house, facepalm.

Anyway, I really wanted to show these burgers off because many people start covering their grill up when summer ends, but we don’t!

The Weber Genesis II has so many awesome features and since it is gas, it really doesn’t even take that long to cook stuff. Now if you are cooking with charcoal, you might be freezing your buns off in the winter!

Since we got the new Weber grill, I will definitely say my favorite features are the temperature that you use with your smartphone app and the oversized burner on the side!

Other Features of the Weber Genesis II:

  • Infinity Ignition – They guarantee it will light EVERY time!
  • Even-Heat Distribution – The way the grates are made, they ensure that your food is cooked evenly no matter where it’s placed.
  • Sear Station – This intense heat area allows you to get those perfect grill marks quickly with hardly any effort!

If you missed my last post about the new grill, go check out my Grilled Teriyaki Salmon recipe, not to mention that it is a delicious easy meal and is perfect for the fall and winter, plus I’m giving you all the deets on the Weber!!

Alright, let’s get grilling!

What do I need for Cranberry Turkey Burgers?

Ground Turkey – we use organic, but you can use whatever you like

Craisins – These are literally dried cranberries with a fancy name!

Onion – not only does the onion add extra flavor but it also keeps the burger together

Garlic – We are using cloves because they have so much more flavor. You can also use garlic powder if you don’t have cloves.

Other Ingredients: salt, pepper, thyme, swiss or brie cheese if desired, buns, other condiments

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Grilling Spatula
  • Grill Brush – be sure to clean the grates before grilling
  • Patty Maker – these are pretty cool, you put your burger patties in and it makes them all equal in size and thickness! Plus less messy when it comes to making them.

Can Cranberry Turkey Burgers be Frozen for Later?

Yes! You can actually make the patties and freeze or go ahead and grill them and freeze. Separate the layers by using parchment paper to make sure they don’t stick when you thaw them out.

To cook after frozen: Let the turkey burgers come to room temperature before cooking, then cook as usual.

What Kind of Cheese Goes Best With Turkey and Cranberries?

Our favorites are swiss or brie, you can always choose your favorite. Keep in mind when you are eating healthy or clean that white cheese is typically less processed than orange cheeses like cheddar or American. Trader Joe’s has an AMAZING selection of cheeses, they aren’t cut fresh from the deli, but they are so good and have such a fresh flavor! How To Cook Turkey Burgers on the Stovetop

I realize that some do not want to go outside and cook or maybe you don’t have a grill, so here’s the deal when it comes to cooking it on the stovetop. Also, if you have a grill like the George Foreman ones, feel free to use that!

Compile burgers according to instructions. Heat a pan over medium-high heat with a little oil or grass-fed butter. Place burger patties and cook for about 6 minutes on each side. Always check the internal temperature before serving.

    1. Thank you!! I just used ocean spray cranberry sauce from the store! I got the “whole berry” one. But you can also make your own with just some cranberries, water, a little sweetener, and lemon zest (optional). Hope this helps!
