How in the world is it already November!? This year has flown by.

It was actually this time last year when Michael and I went out to buy my engagement ring.

We couldn’t tell anyone so it was a VERY big secret to keep. It felt like we were engaged but couldn’t celebrate with anyone or shout the good news!

Michael also asked me to be his girlfriend four years ago in November 🙂

It’s a very special month for us.

Naturally, with any good celebration — you need sweets!

Which is why I made these healthy sauteed apples with cinnamon.

They use only clean ingredients, and are vegan and gluten free (just like these peanut butter cups!).

Most sautéed apple recipes require lots of sugar, oil, butter and possibly cream; however my sautéed apple recipe requires no added sugar, no oil, no butter, and no cream!

And taste amazing as well!

You might be thinking — how is there no sugar or butter in these sauteed apples!?

Apples have a good amount of sugar content on their own. Roughly 18 grams to be exact.

That’s a lotta sugar!  So, I didn’t understand why I would need to add any more to these healthy sauteed apples.

While cooking your apples, the sugars release on their own and begin to caramelize.

Cinnamon is not only a tasty addition, but also helps lower blood sugar levels and keep blood sugar levels balanced — you can read more benefits here.

The perfect pairing with a sweet treat like these sautéed apples!

There are SO many ways to use these healthy sautéed cinnamon apples.

I chose to top mine with a scoop of dulce de leche frozen yogurt and sliced almonds, but the possibilities are endless 😍

  2. Stir them into your greek yogurt and sprinkle some Purely Elizabeth Granola on top.

  4. Make this goat cheese crostini recipe but substitute with apples
  5. Add them to a almond flour tortilla with melted chocolate or hazelnut spread

How do you plan on using these healthy sauteed apples!?

I hope you love them as much as we do!

What apples are best for sauteeing?

Before sauteeing your apples it’s important to decided what are the best apples to saute.

Granny Smith apples are always my first choice. They are firm and crisp, tart and subtly sweet. I use them in my salted caramel apple pie bars as well!

Is it better to cook apples with the skin on or off?

This really comes down to personal preference. Apple skin has a lot of nutritional benefits, but many people don’t love the texture.

What apples should I not bake with?

Gala, Fuji, and Red Delicious won’t hold up in the oven and will give you a watery-mushy pie, tart, or in this case, sauteed apples.

  1. So yummy!! My go to recipe for baked apples! I leave the skin on sometimes for texture too. They taste delicious by themselves or mixed in my yogurt with granola for breakfast! Thank you for making such a simple and easy to follow recipe!
