LIFE-CHANGING, DAIRY FREE CINNAMON APPLE BANANA BREAD!
I recently took a break from Instagram. I took 10+ days off from posting because I needed a soft reset. I try to post every day and it can get exhausting!
Coming up with captions, recipes, editing photos, engaging with my audience, engaging with my friends.. it gets to be a lot!
Although I took an Instagram hiatus, I did not take a baking hiatus.
Not. Even. Close.
I can’t wait to share all the fun recipes I developed over the holidays, as well as things I reflected on and experienced.
I take writing my captions very seriously. Sometimes the food is just a way to capture someone’s attention and bring them to my words.
You can read some of my favorite captions here, here and here. And you can read some of my favorite blog posts here, here and here!
Writing is therapy for me, and I plan on doing a lot more of it in 2019 🙂
OK- onto the healthy cinnamon apple banana bread!
oh, and did I mention it’s dairy-free, too?
I felt kinda bad that my last apple banana bread recipe wasn’t 100% homemade, so I was determined to make one from scratch this time around!
I’ve made sweet potato banana bread from scratch, tahini chia banana bread from scratch and if you want a good laugh, you can check out one of my first ever recipes- chocolate marble banana bread!
Oh how far my photography has come. HA.
But since there’s nothing quite like some warm, cozy apple banana bread, this recipe needed to have its moment.
The only thing that might make this apple banana bread better is a THICK spread of almond butter and some coffee.
NOTE: I have only made this dairy free apple banana bread using the recipe below. If you’re vegan, you can try using flax eggs in place of the eggs. Other than that, you’re good to go!
For this Dairy-Free Apple Cinnamon Banana Bread You Will Need:
- 1 cup whole wheat flour (this is my favorite one to bake with!)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 1/2 cup apple sauce
- 1 cup pureed banana
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup melted coconut oil
- 2 eggs, room temperature
For the middle layer and toppings:
- 1 cup chopped apples
- 1/2 cup coconut sugar
- 2 tbsp. melted coconut oil

How To Make Apple Banana Bread
Preheat oven to 350F. In a small bowl, combine whole wheat + all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl, add apple sauce, banana, honey, maple syrup, oil, and vanilla.
Stir to combine, then whisk in two eggs. Fold dry ingredients into wet, stirring until completely combined.
Pour half of the batter into a greased bread loaf pan. In a small bowl, mix apple, coconut sugar, oil, cinnamon + apple.
Sprinkle half of the mixture on the first-half of the batter + pour the remaining batter on top.

Thanks for this delicious recipe! I started making it last winter and never stopped. I’ve made it vegan every time, I just replace the eggs with two flax eggs (2 tbsp flax meal, 6 tbsp water, let it sit for 5 minutes). I really love the apple in the middle! Genius.
Absolutely loved this, the coconut oil gave it that taste explosion I was looking for in a banana bread!! This one is a keeper that I can pass down to my children!!
Omg so sweet! Thank you!! And thank you for taking the time to comment and rate 🙂 Have a great weekend!
I made this using homemade apple sauce , and made 4 small loaves to share, nothing but wonderful and delicious
Thank you, I will be making this again for sure!
Love that you used homemade! So glad you enjoyed it 🙂 Thank you!
Hello, just made this and wow!! So delish!!!! Thank u!!
Was wondering what the nutrition break down is?
Hi!! Thank you so much! So glad you loved it 🙂 And I’m not sure but you can add all the ingredients to an online calorie counter and divide by the slices to find out. 🙂
Holy moly look at the apple chucks in this! Totally giving this a go! Thanks for sharing ☺️
Yay! Can’t wait to hear what you think! 🙂
I’m gluten intolerant, Can I substitute both the wheat flour and all purpose pamela’s gluten-free flour mix?
I have only made it as listed but if you normally swap out those flours for GF then I’m sure this recipe wouldn’t be any different 🙂
Is it ok to not use whole wheat flour? Can I use all white flour or another kind?
Of course! You can also use 1/2 whole wheat and 1/2 all purpose 🙂 What type of flour were you thinking of using? Coconut flour is super absorbent so I would research how to adjust the recipe if that’s what you’re using! You will need a lot more liquid.
This turned out amazing! I added some chia seeds into the filling/topping, and it worked out wonderfully. Thank you so much for the great recipe! My kiddos devoured it so fast.
Yay! I’m so glad you and your kids enjoyed it! The addition of chia seeds sounds awesome 🙂 Thanks for the kind comment and for taking the time to leave a review!
