Nutritional yeast is getting more and more popular (praise hands!), but a lot of people outside the food, fitness, wellness bubble have no idea what it is, what it does, or how to use it in recipes.

Nutritional yeast is an amazing superfood you need in your cabinet right now!

It is rich in thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folate and often vitamin B12.

These are all B vitamins that work as a complex… essentially providing you with energy and helping you to maintain proper brain function. Vitamin B12 also benefits your mood, memory, heart, skin, digestion and is essential for beautiful, healthy hair!

B vitamins are often depleted during stress, which everyone seems to face more than ever these days, and this makes the need for daily consumption of B vitamin-rich foods all the more important.

Why nutritional yeast is important for vegans and vegetarians:

Considering B12 is typically found in animal foods, nutritional yeast is a very important nutrient option for those following vegetarian and vegan lifestyles.

My favorite brand is Trader Joe’s nutritional yeast. It’s inexpensive and tastes the best in my personal opinion. The Trader Joe’s brand comes in four-ounce bags and costs roughly $3.
