Dairy Free Chocolate Chip Cookies
Enjoy these extra large bakery style dairy free chocolate chip cookies as your new favorite dessert!

Don’t you just admire those XL cookies you see in the bakery cabinets? Of course, you’ve tried making those before and they never turn out as you suspected. Well this dairy-free cookie recipe is a winner and I’ve taken the guesswork out of the baking, so you can enjoy perfect cookies every time.

In these cookies, we are using all-purpose flour, so if you are looking for a gluten-free version, make Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies or Flourless Chocolate Chip Cookies instead. Both of these cookie recipes are just as good and are dairy free as well.

Even though brands like Bob’s Red Mill have created a gluten free all-purpose flour, it still doesn’t have gluten and I have not tested it in these cookies, which is why I recommend the other recipes.

How to Make Chewy Dairy Free Chocolate Chip Cookies
Beat the vegan butter and coconut oil in a large bowl using an electric mixer for 30 seconds.
Add the sugars and baking soda, then mix until combined.

Beat in the applesauce, egg, and vanilla. Slowly pour in the cornstarch and salt while mixing.
Fold in a cup of chocolate chips.

Cover the bowl and chill in the fridge for 2 hours or overnight.
Just before the dough is finished chilling, preheat the oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place about 2 tablespoons of dough on the baking pan for each cookie. Use a spoon or cookies scoop. Press a couple of chocolate chips on top of each one.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the edges are a little brown. Transfer the cookies to a rack to cool.
Store in an airtight container or plastic bag once they have cooled completely.

In this case yes it’s important for the dough, chilling keeps the cookies together.
Are chocolate chips dairy free?
Not all brands. Lily’s and the kind you find at Trader Joe’s are great options. Costco also sells the Kirkland brand which is dairy-free. The normal Nestle chips are not, but they do have an allergen-free variety.
Can you eat the cookie dough by itself?
Everyone says do not eat cookie dough that contains eggs. Some have been eating the stuff for years and never had any problems. To be on the safe side, make a batch of Edible Cookie Dough instead.
