While there are tons of beverage options these days, many people forget about the benefits that 100% orange juice provides. Let’s not forget the great flavor too! If you ask anyone the question, “Why is 100% OJ healthy?” They will say it’s full of vitamin C, we guarantee that! But there are so many other nutrients that go unmentioned like the ones below!
Why We Love Florida Orange Juice
You can find these nutrients and more in every 8-ounce serving!
Folate is a B vitamin that is essential for healthy red blood cells and for women planning a pregnancy since it may help reduce the risk of certain birth defects.
Potassium which helps our organs function properly- a very important mineral!
Hesperidin is considered a bioflavonoid that is abundantly found in 100% OJ with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Magnesium helps to produce energy, as well as maintain a normal healthy blood pressure and heartbeat.
Vitamin B6 also known as pyridoxine helps us to use and store energy from protein and carbs.
Thiamin, another B vitamin, promotes a healthy nervous system by turning food into usable energy.
Fortified 100% orange juice is a great way to get calcium and Vitamins D & C into your diet. Just an 8-ounce serving offers nutrients that can help support bone and immune system health, and some that offer antioxidant properties.
One of the amazing benefits of Florida Orange Juice that I love is that there’s no added sugar like other fruit drinks or beverages that are not 100% juice
Ingredients for Orange Tofu
Extra Firm Tofu – Extra firm is great to use because you can get it crispier due to the excess water already squeezed out. I always squeeze it out a little more before cooking by laying it in a thin dish towel and pressing. If you have a tofu press, you can use that instead!
Florida Orange Juice – The best orange juice comes from Florida!
Coconut sugar – I must mention that this sugar is a much better option when compared to granulated sugar. It has a lower glycemic index and is minimally processed. Not to mention it’s great for baking and you can’t tell a difference!
Spices: Garlic, paprika, onion powder, salt, ginger
Other Ingredients: Cornstarch, soy sauce, rice vinegar,
How To Make Orange Tofu
Prepare the Tofu
There are various ways to cook your Orange Tofu, so we’ve included all of the instructions below!
Before cooking, start by preparing your tofu.
Lay the tofu in the center of a clean, thin dish towel and press to remove excess moisture.
Dice the tofu into ~1×1 inch pieces.
Place the squares in a large Ziploc bag. Add the cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, and salt. Close the bag and shake until the tofu is completely coated.
Make the Orange Sauce
To make the Florida OJ glaze for the tofu, combine Florida Orange Juice, coconut sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic in a medium pot and heat for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.
Create a cornstarch slurry and whisk into the OJ mixture. Simmer until it thickens then remove from heat.
You can drizzle, dip, or toss the tofu in the Florida OJ glaze!
Making Orange Tofu in the Air Fryer
Once you’ve seasoned and diced your tofu add to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray the tops of the tofu with cooking oil spray.
Set the air fryer at 360F for 18 minutes. After 10 minutes, shake the basket. Arrange tofu back in a single layer across the basket and cook for another 8 minutes at 360F.
Then toss in the Florida OJ glaze and serve!
