The Best Gifts for First Time Moms (Gifts for new moms that aren’t for the baby!)

Stroller organizer

They sell faux leather or weatherproof ones. I have this one and have zero complaints! It’s super spacious for everything I need. I pack his portable sound machine, toys, a burp cloth, my air pods, phone, car keys, and tumbler all at once in here!

If you’re not a huge fan of how it looks and want something a bit more stylish, this faux leather stroller organizer has great reviews and comes in several colors!

Jewelry with the baby’s name or initials on it

I am obsessed with simple jewelry and I found this brand on Etsy that sells personalized/customizable necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc. I asked for my Isaiah necklace for Christmas before he was born, and I’ve barely taken it off since.

It’s the perfect length, size, font, and everything! It did take a little bit of time to get delivered, so make sure you give shipping plenty of time!

I ordered the style “It’s All In A Name” in “rose gold with no crystals”. They sell a variety of styles and finish!

Catch-all Charging Tray

This charging tray is elegant and practical for a new mom! I was on my phone to record just about everything (breastfeeding times, tracking diapers, etc) and also googling everything under the sun because I had no idea what I was doing haha. My phone needed to be charged constantly and this tray is such a good solution!

Ember Mug

An ember mug is a temperature-controlled smart mug that stays warm from its built-in rechargeable battery. You can control the temperature on your smartphone.

I can’t think of any other times in life when you are this severely sleep-deprived for months on end and in need of caffeine! As a new mom, I definitely know the struggle to find the time to finish a cup of coffee before it gets cold.

This gift is perfect for the coffee-drinkin’, caffeine-lovin’ mom!

Teddy Warmmuffs

Stroller gloves might sound a little crazy, but hear me out! These are so much better than having separate mittens and gloves that you’d need to stop and take off and stuff in your jacket pockets or wedge under your arm or between your knees every time to attend to your baby’s pacifier, etc.

I love that I can fold the stroller, throw it in my closet, and leave the gloves on. I never have to think “Where are my gloves?” They are attached to the stroller, duh.

When you are a mom you cannot keep your hands warm inside your pockets, someone’s gotta push that stroller.

Bamboo PJs

I got these bamboo PJs for my mom for Mother’s day and she has now ordered them for two of her sisters and her sister-in-law.

I have this pair of bamboo pajamas, but they are PRICEY, which is why I definitely recommend buying this more affordable pair that your new mom friend will love just as much! They also come in tons of different colors which is always a plus!

Memory Book or One line a day

I bought Isaiah this memory book off Amazon and am super excited to fill it out as he grows! It’s a happy medium between the One Line a Day book, and something more in-depth/too overwhelming.

As a first time mom, I’ve been really trying to document every moment and memory. If we ever have another kid, I think these One Line A Day memory books will probably be more reasonable to keep up with!

A cleaning service

We are currently on the hunt for a cleaning service and I am STOKED about it. As a new mom and first time mom, I definitely underestimated how little time I would have to clean and organize our house.

Prior to having a baby, I could spend an hour a day picking up the house and deep cleaning it every weekend. Post-baby? Everything is a disorganized mess and as soon as you clean it, it gets messy again haha.

He is starting to crawl so everything is fair game for him to get his hands on. Our living room is a crazy mess and our entire house is basically his playroom!

Robovac

If a cleaning service is too pricey to keep up with, you can also gift her this Robovac to lessen the cleaning load!

With kids, you need to always keep your home clean, but I hate vacuuming because it’s always very noisy, especially during nap time. A robovac is an answered prayer to any new mom!

Joggers, leggings, + biker shorts… with POCKETS!

After my emergency c section, comfy clothes were KEY. I needed stretchy waistbands and soft, flowy clothes.

These joggers are the perfect in-between of baggy sweatpants (that can leave you feeling sloppy), and leggings (that can feel too constricting after having a baby!)

ALSO – If pants or shorts don’t have pockets… I don’t want ’em! Anytime I throw on my leggings without pockets I immediately regret it. I love to wear Isaiah in his carrier and being able to have pockets for any random things I need to bring along with me is super important!

Belt Bag

I mentioned before how crucial pockets are, but if getting a new wardrobe isn’t in the budget, grab this belt bag instead!

Phone, keys, wallet. Keep them close in this versatile belt bag that helps you get out the door fast. This Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag is a little more expensive but super cute with amazing reviews from friends!

Ice roller

It’s easy to forget to take care of yourself when you’re taking care of a newborn. There isn’t much “me time” when you’re a new mom, so taking just 10 minutes out of my day to ice roll, dermaplane, or heck, take a shower really makes all the difference.

Stanley Cup

A nice, insulated cup is the perfect gift for a new mom. This Stanley cup will keep her drink cold for as long as she needs and the handle is a must!

Matching sweatsuit

Cute, effortless loungewear is all you want to wear postpartum. This set comes in tons of colors and is beyond adorable!

Naturium Skin Care

New moms hardly do anything for themselves, so a full-blown skincare routine isn’t likely. This Intense Overnight Sleeping Cream is SO hydrating.

When I only had 2 minutes to wash my face and put on cream, this was the one I would reach for.

Olaplex Hair Care

As mentioned before, new moms hardly take time for themselves. All we really want is a level 4 shower where we can deep clean our whole body and hair.

This essentials kit is the perfect gift (along with watching her new baby for 30 minutes so she can shower) for any first time mom or mom in general!

Chatbooks

This app essentially takes photos from your social media or phone and puts them in an album. Once that album hits 60 photos, it’s ready to ship out. You have 3 days to edit, remove, etc., and then you receive your photo book in the mail.

I love being able to sit down and look at an album instead of scrolling through photos on my iPhone or computer.

Set up a Meal Train or Meal delivery service… not meal PREP service!

Food was seriously the BEST gift those first few weeks home from the hospital. Between breastfeeding, recovering from an emergency C section, learning how to take care of a newborn, and the lack of sleep… there was NO way I was going to be cooking.

Our friend set up a meal train online where our friends and family could sign up for days to provide us with lunch/dinner. It was amazing. We had meals for the first 6 weeks and never had to cook!

Our friends provided gift cards to grubhub, postmates, and uber eats or dropped off homemade meals, or dropped off meals from our favorite restaurants. This was by FAR the best gift I got as a first time mom.

You could also sign up for a meal delivery service to provide meals if cooking isn’t your thing! Just make sure it’s not a meal PREP service… because I can promise you, she is NOT going to want to be cooking for a while haha.

Google Nest Mini

It’s truly shocking the number of times I say “hey google…” in a day. Anything that allows me to be hands-free is a game changer!

I am always asking my Google Nest Mini about the weather before I get Isaiah dressed for the day or to play Cocomelon when we are playing in the living room.

I also ask google SO many questions regarding baby safety (i.e. introducing solids, baby poop questions, and more).

Amazon Prime membership

I’m not sure who doesn’t have an Amazon Prime membership these days, but if you know any first-time moms that are not Prime members, this is the BEST possible gift for them!

I’m not sure if it’s embarrassing or impressive the number of things I’ve ordered off Amazon for Isaiah in these short 7 months.

Audible membership

As a first time mom, I’ve learned that multitasking is sometimes the ONLY way to get things done. Listening to audiobooks while I fold laundry, run errands in the car, clean up the kitchen, prep dinner, nurse Isaiah, or take him in the stroller is way more realistic for me than sitting down and reading a book.

I do have this kindle and LOVE it, but I can only read it when he goes down for bedtime. With this membership, I can listen to books more easily!

Instacart Delivery or Express Membership

What did moms do before Instacart existed!? Seriously! Now that Isaiah is 7 months old, running errands is much easier.

When he was first born, running errands was impossible. Ordering groceries for pick-up or delivery was the only way I could fill the house with food.

AirPods

I teated myself to some AirPods Pro after having Isaiah and I’ve never looked back. Are they expensive? Yes. Are they worth it? Absolutely!

I mentioned how important it is to be hands-free with a baby and these are just another way to do that.

I push him in the stroller or wear him in his carrier with my AirPods in so I can talk on the phone or listen to a podcast. They are also much harder to get a hand on than a dangling cord!

Hulu/Netflix subscription

As a first-time mom who is also nursing, I spent a LOT of time on the couch with Isaiah during those first few months. He was cluster feeding and I was legitimately nursing him for hours on end to establish my supply. I watched so many episodes of criminal minds during those first few months!

Lovevery Subscription

Lovevery is a play kit subscription company that delivers toys to your door every 2-3 months to support your child’s developmental stage through books, play products, and guides to help you through each stage.

The play products you’ll find at Lovevery are designed by child development experts and are specifically created to support a child at each stage of their early years.

We have gotten the monthly play kits for Isaiah as well as the play gym and a few bonus toys! We’re obsessed and I love that I don’t have to peruse the toy aisle and wonder what is age-appropriate for him. They do they work for you!

Hatch Sound Machine

I debated putting the Hatch Rest+ Sound Machine on here because it’s not technically for moms, but it has made my life as a first time mom SO much easier, so I decided to include it!

The hatch sound machine is a night light and sound machine all in one. It is controlled by an app on your phone. You can automatically program it for bedtime, wake time, nap time, etc. I use the white noise for Isaiah every nap and for bedtime.

When I would nurse him for the middle of the night feeds and changes, all I had to do was turn the brightness up slightly on my phone and it was great for not waking him up completely!

I hope you found this list of the best gifts for new moms and first time moms helpful! I know I would have loved to be gifted any of these products or subscriptions. And when in doubt? Give the gift of food! Seriously!
