Cottage Cheese Dip

This cottage cheese dip tastes super similar to ranch dressing, but much healthier! It’s ultra creamy, whipped to perfection, and makes a great dipping sauce for veggies and crackers.

I know many people turn their nose up at the thought of cottage cheese. BUT if you’ve been here for a while, you know my secret is whipping it! I’m telling you, once you try this trick you will not turn back.

Personally I love it on toast (be sure to check out 8 ways to make cottage cheese toast), but often use it in other dishes to add more protein and nutrition without a ton of extra fat and calories (such as sour cream).

Ingredients

  • cottage cheese – I used 4%. This is considered regular while low fat is 2%. Any kind will do, but the regular seems to have the best flavor and texture in my opinion. Low fat also tends to be watery which will alter the texture of your cottage cheese dip!
  • Avocado – adds healthy fats and a little creamy texture.
  • Herbs: fresh dill, fresh parsley
  • fresh lemon juice
  • avocado oil – can swap for extra virgin olive oil if needed
  • Spices: salt, ground black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder

How to Make Healthy Cottage Cheese Dip

Combine all of the ingredients into a food processor and pulse until it’s whipped and creamy.

Taste and add more herbs and seasonings as desired.

Helpful Tips

  • If you only have a blender, you can use that instead of a food processor. You will need to scrape down the sides between blending. If the dip looks like it’s too thick, you can add a little water or a splash of milk to thin it out.
  • Feel free to swap out the herbs for your favorite variety and make your own version.
  • To make homemade cottage cheese dip spicy add a dash of cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
  • Buffalo cottage cheese dip: Add a tablespoon or two of buffalo sauce.
  • You can leave the dip unwhipped and just stir the ingredients together, but I prefer the blended version.
  • Ricotta can be swapped for the cottage cheese, but you may want to add a little more salt.
  • This dip can be eaten immediately, but we like chilling it in the fridge first so the flavors have time to marry.
