Cinnamon Swirl Banana Bread
Cinnamon swirled banana bread is sweet, moist, easy to make vegan friendly and dairy free! We are using healthier ingredients that taste just like traditional banana bread!

I thought after making almond butter banana bread, protein banana bread, and coconut milk banana bread that I was doneβ¦NOPE!
This bread recipe is a little different because each slice has a swirl of cinnamon in it, and itβs SO good!
Plus, I had bananas that were about to go bad, so banana bread it is.

Ingredients
- ripe bananas – ripe bananas are a must for this recipe. The riper they are, the most natural sweetness they add.
- Coconut Oil – be sure to measure it in its liquid form. Unrefined or refined will work. Check out this post to read about the different types of coconut oils.
- maple syrup – could also use honey in its place.
- Almond Milk – go with plain, instead of those with flavors.
- Vanilla Extract – because we canβt bake anything without vanilla!
- White Whole Wheat Flour – this recipe hasnβt been tested using other types of flours. If you give gluten-free 1:1 flour or all-purpose flour a try, let me know how it goes in the comments! I definitely do not recommend swapping almond flour or coconut flour at a 1:1 ratio in this recipe.
- Cinnamon – a signature spice that adds a ton of flavor.
- Baking Powder – makes our bread rise, so you donβt want it to be expired. If you’re not sure if your baking powder is expired or not, check out this surefire way to test it out!
- Salt – deepens the flavors.
Cinnamon Swirl Ingredients
- Applesauce – be sure to grab the unsweetened kind.
- Coconut Sugar – brown sugar can be substituted if thatβs what you have on hand.
- Cinnamon – canβt have a swirl without the cinnamon!
- Coconut Oil – again, measure it in its liquid form.

How to Make Healthy Cinnamon Banana Bread
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas. Then add the oil, syrup, almond milk, and vanilla. Stir until smooth.
Pour in the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Stir just until combined.
Mix the cinnamon swirl ingredients in a separate bowl.
Add parchment paper to a loaf pan and spray with cooking spray. Add half of the batter to the pan. Then add half of the cinnamon swirl mixture and spread over the batter.
Scoop the remaining banana bread batter in, followed by the cinnamon swirl mixture.
Bake for 40-50 minutes. Cover with aluminum foil halfway through.
Let the cinnamon banana bread cool completely before serving.

Tips for Making
- Do not overmix the batter. You want to stir just until the ingredients are mixed together and are moist. When you overmix batter for breads and muffins, it can result in dense, gummy baked goods.
- When you add the batter to the pan, itβs going to be very thick!
- Covering the loaf halfway through baking keeps the edges from burning.
- We like lining the pan with parchment paper because you can lift it out easily, then slice on the counter.
- If desired, fold in Β½ cup of chopped pecans or walnuts.
- You can also turn this recipe into muffins. Follow the same instruction pan except use a muffin pan and reduce the baking time to about 20 minutes. Please note that because you are layering the batter, it will take additional time to turn these into muffins.

How to Store
Leftover cinnamon banana bread should be stored in an airtight container or bag on the counter or in the fridge for up to a week.
To freeze, wrap the cooled loaf in a couple of layers of plastic wrap. Place in a freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months.

I had some ripe bananas that needed to be used and this recipe popped into my inbox!
I had all the ingredients except the white whole wheat flour so I used whole wheat flour and it worked like a charm! Add a little butter or peanut butter and banana to the top and it’s even better! Thanks for sharing amazing recipes!
