Dairy Free Oatmeal Banana Waffles | Easy Breakfast for Two
Healthy Oatmeal Banana Waffles are dairy free, refined sugar free, and made with whole food ingredients to keep this banana waffle recipe healthier than most. Enjoy this easy, healthy breakfast recipe for two with your favorite toppings!

I try my best to keep up with the MANY Instagram hashtag days, but what’s a girl to do?
There’s #toasttuesday, #tacotuesday, #salmondsunday, #selfcaresunday and then the ones I’m convinced people just make up on a whim.
One hashtag I have NEVER participated in but have no idea why not is #WaffleWednesday. I freaking love waffles.
I’ve seen this poll “are you team waffles or pancakes” over and over and I scream “WAFFLES”!!! Yet, I never actually take the time to make them.
I love the little pockets that catch all the yummy syrup, peanut butter, and toppings. I.e. bananas, cocoa nibs, and cinnamon.
When I was little, my mom told us how her mom would mix Karo syrup and peanut butter to put on their ice cream. Immediately my ears perked up and I was like “so you’re saying I can add that to my waffles then, right mom?”
Keep in mind I was about 8 years old at the time, but my peanut butter addiction was already in full-force.

If you’re a peanut butter lover like myself I HIGHLY recommend you make these OATMEAL PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE DOUGH CUPS or my FLOURLESS PEANUT BUTTER PROTEIN COOKIES.
They’re two of my most popular recipes and it’s easy to see why.
OK, back to the healthy oatmeal banana waffles.
Since I see tons of waffle inspiration on Instagram, I decided to take matters into my own hands and whip up this yummy, clean-eating recipe.
I also bought this mini waffle maker at target a couple of months ago and it was just BEGGING to be used. It’s seriously the most adorable thing in the world.
Why is it that mini food always tastes better?
These banana waffles are the perfect texture, flavor, fluffiness, crispness and will keep you full until lunchtime!
I snuck in some oats because I’m always down to add fiber to my meals. (Read more about my nutrition coaching philosophy here.) I also love the texture and heartiness oats bring to a baked good.

Should You Let Your Waffle Batter Rest?
How to Properly Freeze Banana Waffles:
Although it’s safe to keep your waffles in the refrigerator for a few days, you will get much better results by freezing them.
- Cook your oatmeal banana waffles and allow them to fully cool down.
- Place the dairy-free waffles on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
- Put the baking sheet into the freezer until the waffles are fully frozen, for about 2 hours.
- Once the waffles are frozen, place them in a freezer-safe bag or container.
- Use a permanent marker to label the freezer bag or container.
- When reheating the waffles, you can use the microwave, toaster, or oven to reheat and enjoy.
These dairy-free oatmeal banana waffles can stay in the freezer for up to two months.

Healthy Oatmeal Banana Waffles Ingredients:
- Whole Wheat Flour (I love THIS specific one)
- Oats (You can use gluten-free or regular rolled oats)
- Banana
- One Egg (You might be able to sub a flax egg to make this recipe vegan, but I haven’t tried.)
- Almond Milk
- Maple Syrup
- Baking Powder
- Cinnamon
- Cooking Spray (I prefer this olive oil kind)
- Salt!
You will also need a waffle maker (I used my teal mini-waffle maker) and all your favorite toppings like peanut butter, cacao nibs, more banana, walnuts, syrup or jam!

How To Make Healthy Oatmeal Banana Waffles:
- Heat waffle iron on medium to medium-high.
- Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk the wet ingredients together in a separate bowl or measuring jug. Pour the wet into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Bake the waffles according to your waffle iron’s instructions, using about 1/4 cup of batter per waffle. Enjoy warm!

These were fantastic!
Could I use any plant based milk? What about a flax egg in place of the egg?
Any milk will work! I haven’t tried this recipe with a flax egg, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work!
I did flax egg and go all vegan. They were delicious.
Can I leave the rest of the batter for the next morning ?
I would go ahead and make them all and freeze the leftovers for the morning 🙂
the recipe was only enough to make a single waffle in my iron, but it was delicious!
Hi! Hmm, I’m not sure why! Mine made 6 mini waffles. I may need to retest it. Thanks for letting me know!
I followed your recipe and have the same teal dash mini waffle maker. The recipe made 10 mini waffles for me, maybe I added a little more than 2/2 cup of banana. They look and smell wonderful, can’t wait to try them. Thanks for the recipe.
